Our Story

Before There Was Vermont Golden Meadows... There Was Ohana.

Raised with love, inspired by Ohana, shared with families

Vermont Golden Meadows began not as a business, but as a promise — inspired by a Golden Retriever named Ohana and the quiet, extraordinary way he changed our family's life. Every puppy we raise carries a piece of that promise.

There are moments in life that quietly change everything. For our family, that moment came in the form of a Golden Retriever named Ohana.

When my mother came to live with us as dementia slowly began to take away her memories, there were days when names escaped her and conversations became difficult. Yet through it all, there was one thing she never forgot.

She would smile and say, "I always wanted a Golden Retriever. These are the nicest dogs." Even when she couldn't remember their names, she always remembered how they made her feel. Sometimes she would ask, "Where's the red one?" She didn't need to remember every detail. She remembered the kindness. She remembered the comfort. She remembered love.

And Ohana always seemed to understand. Without being asked, he would quietly rest beside my mother, offering the kind of companionship that asks for nothing in return. Watching them together changed the way our family understood what a Golden Retriever is truly capable of.

That was the moment Vermont Golden Meadows began — not as a business, but as a promise. A promise to preserve the gentle temperament, unwavering loyalty, and extraordinary hearts that make Golden Retrievers unlike any other breed.

Today, every golden retriever puppy we raise in Vermont carries a piece of that promise. Because we're not simply raising beautiful golden retrievers. We're raising the kind of companions who change lives.

How we breed

Our golden retrievers live our life with us.

We don't have a kennel. Our golden retrievers are in the house, on the couch, and out on Vermont trails with us every single day. They know our kids' voices and our neighbors' cars. That's the life we give them — and it's the foundation every golden retriever puppy raised here is built on.

When we plan a litter, we think about temperament first. Then structure. Then health. We want golden retriever puppies that are easy to live with, confident in new situations, and deeply bonded to their people. Families find their way to us from Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and all across New England — and that trust is something we hold gently.

What we stand for

The things that matter to us

Honesty

We share OFA health results openly, talk honestly about our golden retrievers' strengths and limitations, and never oversell a puppy.

Early Socialization

Our golden retriever puppies are raised in our Vermont home from day one — handled daily, introduced to children, other animals, and the full rhythm of family life. That early foundation shapes everything.

Education

We believe an informed family is the best thing that can happen to a golden retriever puppy. We share everything we know — before and after go-home day.

Lifetime Support

We are here for the lifetime of your golden retriever — not just the first eight weeks. Call us, email us, or just say hello. That's what lifetime breeder support means to us, and we mean it.

This website was thoughtfully created with modern design. However, every photograph on this website features our own dogs living their everyday lives here in Vermont. Every story and sentiment reflects our family's real experiences and the values that guide Vermont Golden Meadows —
