Vermont's Happiest Retrievers.
The Family behind Vermont Golden Meadows
Terri Cowdrey
Vermont Golden Meadows was built around my love for golden retrievers and the lessons they've taught our family. As a member of the Golden Retriever Club of America, I believe in thoughtful breeding, lifelong learning, and raising puppies with love, purpose, and plenty of fresh air. Around here, you'll often find me cooking meals for our dogs, exploring Vermont trails, or simply enjoying the quiet moments that make life with Goldens so special.
Allan
While Allan jokingly refers to himself as the "Sanitation Manager," the dogs know him for so much more. He's part of their everyday lives — from preparing meals and keeping everyone comfortable to opening the gates for long walks through the fields and woods, where the Goldens are free to explore, sniff, and simply enjoy being dogs. He's always ready with morning belly scratches, evening snuggles, and the quiet patience that helps every puppy feel safe, loved, and at home.
Logan
Logan is our son and the quiet force behind many of the photos you'll see throughout Vermont Golden Meadows. His camera captures the everyday moments that make our Goldens so special, while his steady support behind the scenes helps keep everything moving forward. He also shares a special bond with Frosty, one of the dogs who helped shape Vermont Golden Meadows.
Arabella
Our daughter Arabella plays an important role in the daily care of our dogs — from feeding and playtime to puppy cuddles and socialization. As our Flight Nanny, she loves meeting families and helping puppies begin the next chapter of their lives. She and her boyfriend, Jackson, are also the proud owners of their Golden Retriever, Lulla, who is every bit as spoiled as you'd imagine.
Before there was Vermont Golden Meadows... there was Ohana.
Vermont Golden Meadows began not as a business, but as a promise — inspired by a Golden Retriever named Ohana and the extraordinary joy, comfort, and love he brought to our family. Today, every puppy we raise carries a piece of that promise, and our hope that they will bring the same joy, comfort, and golden memories to the families who welcome them home.
What Makes Us Different
"While walking our Goldens one evening, a woman passed us and said, "You must have the happiest life." And I thought — Yes. This is exactly the joy we hope every Vermont Golden Meadows family will experience."
More than a puppy — a life filled with love, adventure, and golden memories.
Raised in our Vermont home
Our golden retriever puppies grow up underfoot — handled daily, socialized with children and other animals, and introduced to the rhythms of real family life from day one. No kennels. No crates in a barn. Just home.
Health tested, results shared
Every dog in our program is OFA health-tested before breeding — hips, elbows, heart, and eyes. We share results openly because you deserve to know exactly what you're bringing home.
Confidence by Design
Our golden retrievers are raised with clear boundaries, consistent routines, and thoughtful guidance. Dogs thrive when they understand what is expected of them. That sense of security builds confidence, resilience, and the strong nerve strength that allows them to adapt to the world around them.
Calm Leadership
Dogs naturally look to their people for direction. We lead with patience, consistency, and quiet confidence — not chaos or force. That steady leadership creates golden retrievers who are relaxed, trusting, and emotionally balanced in everyday life.
Health, Nutrition & Raising Happy Golden Retrievers.
Everything we do — from the food we choose to the Vermont trails we walk — is guided by one goal: raising golden retrievers who are healthy, happy, and ready to thrive in your home.
Nutrition
We feed our golden retrievers with the same care and intention we bring to everything else. Every meal is chosen to support strong bones, a healthy coat, and the kind of energy that makes a golden retriever such a joy to live with.
Health Testing
Before any pairing, every dog in our program is fully health tested — OFA hips, elbows, eyes, heart, and Embark DNA. We share all results openly, because you deserve complete confidence in the golden retriever puppy you're bringing home.
Vermont Outdoor Living
Our golden retrievers grow up exploring Vermont's fields, forests, and trails. Daily outdoor time isn't a bonus — it's a foundation. It builds confidence, curiosity, and the calm, well-adjusted temperament that defines a truly happy golden.
Lifetime Support
Our relationship with your family doesn't end on pickup day. We're here for every question, every milestone, and every moment you need guidance — for the entire life of your golden retriever.

Planned with Intention.
Raised with Love.
Every golden retriever litter we plan starts with a question: what is the best pairing for the health, temperament, and structure of the next generation? We don't breed often — but when we do, we do it right. Our Vermont-raised golden retriever puppies are AKC registered, health-tested, and ready to become the heart of your New England family.
Start the conversation.
Choosing a Golden Retriever is a big decision, and we're always happy to talk — no pressure, just a friendly conversation. We welcome inquiries from families both near and far and are happy to discuss the best way to bring your puppy home.
